JASON VALLEAU

Bio

Northern Alberta born Jason Valleau was raised in a musical family that lovingly supported his musical path at an early age. Starting on the ukulele Jason’s first introduction to music was playing and singing along to the music of Nat King Cole, The Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Throughout his life he would add piano, clarinet, guitar and the upright bass to his arsenal of musical tools and would eventually study jazz and secondary education at the University of Calgary. He would then tour the globe playing music professionally before returning to Carstairs/Calgary where he started a festival and music bistro with his family. This lead to a career shift toward arts management at the National Music Centre and JazzYYC in Calgary with an eventual return to the University of Calgary where he received his bachelor's degree in education.
Jason is now teaching for the Calgary Board of Education.
