JASON VALLEAU

Bio

Born in Northern Alberta, Jason Valleau was raised in a musical family that supported his development from an early age. Beginning with the ukulele, his early influences included the music of Nat King Cole, The Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. He expanded his proficiencies to include piano, clarinet, guitar, and upright bass, eventually studying jazz and secondary education at the University of Calgary. Following a period of global professional touring, he returned to the Carstairs/Calgary area to co-found a festival and music bistro with his family. This experience transitioned into arts management roles at the National Music Centre and JazzYYC, ultimately leading him back to the University of Calgary to complete a Bachelor of Education. He currently teaches for the Stoney Education Authority.
